Dear Substitute Teacher,
Welcome to the wonderful world of science! I hope you will enjoy our middle school.
Information and materials
You can find detailed information about my class (procedures, assignments, etc.) on my website.
When you arrive in Room 5, you will find a substitute folder on the teacher’s desk. In the folder, you will find class lists, schedule for 6A and procedures for homeroom, sixth grade science, and seventh grade science.
Schedules with bell times are on the board. There are several different schedules: regular day (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday), early dismissal day (some Tuesdays), and Mass day (Friday).
Homeroom
You will need to pick up homeroom 6A outside (they will be lined up between the gate and the cafeteria door) at 7:50, after the first bell. Students proceed to their seat, and you will take attendance (class list and attendance slips are in the podium in the first big open shelf); by 7:55 students should be in their seats ready for announcements and prayer. After the prayer, continue with attendance, if needed. Students then may go to their lockers. They depart for their first period at 8:10.
6A will come back after third period to go to lockers (10:25 on a regular day), then again at 12 noon. At that time, they leave their books and go to lunch. You will need to pick them up outside cafeteria about 12:35. This gives the students a chance to go to their lockers, and then go to their afternoon classes.
At 3 p.m., 6A will be back again to pack up and to go home at 3:15.
Science
You have the second and fourth period off.
Here is your science schedule:
Sixth and Seventh grade Science:
Assignments for science class will be found attached to the substitute folder on the desk. If my absence was not planned, assignments will be e-mailed to Ms. Piskura.
If a fire alarm sounds, students are to quickly and silently exit the room. You should be the last person out of the classroom. Take a red and green fire drill laminated class list (hanging on the closet door near the entrance) with you, turn off the light and close the door. Follow the students to the right as they leave the classroom; make another right turn to exit the building; turn left and around the corner, along the fence and proceed all the way towards Neff street.
Call roll and show the green sign if all students are accounted for, or show red if any students are unaccounted for. Wait for further instructions.
I hope everything will go well for you. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at jankowskio@sfdsschool.org.
You can also call me at 713-410-4595.
Thanks, and have a great day.
