  • Explain how important a nucleus is in a cell.

Viewing and discussion of PBS NOVA program "Origins". Preview the questions and take notes during the show

Sign the science fair paper

Writing assignment (due Monday 9-20): Paper about the origin of life on Earth based on the show and the following questions:

  1. Which four elements are found in every living thing?
  2. What was heavy bombardment? What were conditions on early Earth? What effect does impact have on amino acids?
  3. Where do scientists find environments similar to that of the early Earth? What do they discover there?
  4. What were the first living organisms on Earth?
  5. What important role did they play in the history of life on Earth?
  6. Using 24-hour analogy, what happened on Earth in the last three hours of the day?
